For homework, Mr. Rico would like all of the students to rewrite their interviews in this format. Stay tuned for our article in the Times! :)
Damian Rico came in to visit us today. He had to cancel last week because he was in Philadelphia covering a story on the Pope! How cool is that?! Today he came to ask us for help. We are helping him write an article for the newspaper! We wrote out a draft as he explained what kind of information should be included in each paragraph. Our tech whiz, Brandon, typed up our article on Mr. Rico's phone as we came up with it and wrote it on the board.

https://docs.google.com/a/duneslearningcenter.org/forms/d/1_SL9d8F4QHjtd3yXygk6B3C2pQx4j4FqlVBhmSChpkg/viewform On September 14, Mr.Rico and Annabelle came in to talk to the class about how to interview other people. We partnered up with our 2 o'clock partner to interview each other. We each had 10 minutes per person. So we spent 20 minutes in all. Annabelle gave us tips on how to interview like, be friendly, have open-ended questions, and ask personal questions (Ex: Why do you love your best friend so much?) One of Mr. Rico's friends made an invention to get rid of fleas and is going to be on a national television show, around next month. How they work is that fleas are attracted to white and clean surfaces. You pet your dog or cat with the white glove and the fleas jump onto the white glove, and they get stuck, and finally put it into a bag, so they suffocate and die. He gave us a homework assignment to write about our partners. We were excited to see what we were going to do this time around. I can't wait until next his next visit.
Tomorrow, student bloggers will give details about our visit from Damian Rico and his HHS intern, Annabella, but for now, here are some pics for you to enjoy.... :) Today in writing we had a little fun. We did a little writing for our self then we made a paper airplane! Then there was a twist. We flew the writing across the room to someone else, then they finished where the original writer left off. The new writer got a little time to write. Then came a repeat. The new writer then got a little more time than the last two because he or she had to mash the previous two together. Then, in class there are one o'clock, two o'clock and so on partner appointment cards and two people had to go to their two o'clock partner and read it aloud to them. Then if we thought we had the best one in the whole wide world, Mrs. Swafford would call on us and we would get to read it to the whole class. To our opinion, and the class's, there were some pretty weird ones. :) We had a lot of fun doing this, this is one thing we would love to do again. It was one of the most fun, yet weirdest things we have ever done in class. And we can't wait to see what other weird things we do! |
