March is Disabilities Awareness Month. We worked with our buddy class to create posters to hang around the building to promote Disabilities Awareness Month and the Smencils sale. Profits from Smencil sales go to the Chasing Dreams Foundation.
Students had to recreate a critter from the book, Hatchet, then find materials to use to camouflage it somewhere in the classroom. After we created our "critter camouflage" we had a scavenger hunt to find the animals. We use creative thinking, engineering, construction, technology, and a lot of grit to come up with solutions to problems we read about in Hatchet. We have created a shelter for Brian using recycled materials as well as a bow and arrow. We even got to practice shooting our q-tip arrow at some animal targets. Who knew reading was so fun?!Last week, our class planned a Halloween party for our Miss Keefe's class. They were SO excited about the activities and crafts we planned for them! The party included a Pin the Hat on the Witch game, a ghost hunt song and craft, and decorating treat bags for their class party. It was a spooky fun time! Here are some videos that demonstrate GRIT. Can you explain what it means to have grit? |
